SMAC art gallery is a site built on the Joomla framework with extensive javascript and ajax front-end functionality. It essentially deals with artists, their works, collections and exhibitions and the many2many relationships that exists between them.

The main challenge was the uploading, resizing, compressing and displaying of the works of art. I modified an existing resize/compression Joomla component and allowed the client to choose whether an image can be displayed portrait or landscape.

My first Government project.

This is a complex Joomla component for the department of health. It was all coded strictly using the joomla mvc framework which incidentally is amazingly sturdy and rapid.

The main selling point of the system is its SMS integration, allowing admin to notify users of new opportunities and bursaries. Furthermore, users had the ability to confirm interviews via SMS which the system processed.

Skommerce

Skommerce is essentially a multi-vendor e commerce component for Joomla with SMS integration. The concept was to allow users the ability to preregister with credit card details and be able to purchase items with a simple SMS.

Working in a team, it used virtuemart, an existing single vendor e commerce component as a base and added a hybrid component onto Joomla.

Overlanding Africa

A data-driven application for an overlanding tour company.
This is a complex, SEO heavy site with 2000+ pages. The premise was to allow users the ability to add interesting locations or tours to their backpack and then requesting them to checkout, much like a shopping cart. Insane amount of ajax , google maps integration and Jquery magic made this an awesome end product that I am proud to be apart of.
I worked in a fairly large team and my specialty was the more complex PHP, all AJAX and some of the google maps integration.

Discover Africa

While on a contract with Discover Africa, I was involved in the development of their flickr portal. This is basically an ajax powered flickr search that returned various images of Africa. It used an ajax interface with the flickr API and returned particular results relevant to Africa.

Many a nifty jquery plugin was used here.
